Common mistakes to avoid during an appeal of denied benefits.

Speaker Profile:

Ric has been practicing Social Security disability law since opening his law practice in Puyallup, WA in 2000.  Ric also practiced elder law for fifteen years and was a member of Waela during that time.  Before practicing law, Ric was director of a non-profit organization serving the disabled.  Currently, Ric volunteers on behalf of the homeless in Puyallup and serves on the local non-profit board, Homeward Bound in Puyallup.

Ric incorporates his experience in social services with his legal training to effectively advocate for people with disabilities when dealing with large government benefit bureaucracies.  The current public health and resulting economic crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic is adding significant stress to existing safety net programs.  As a practitioner, Ric believes it is important, now more than ever, for attorneys to better understand the context and challenges facing our disabled and elderly clients in order to effectively assist them in navigating what we professionals can anticipate will be a difficult road ahead.
